What an inspection can and cannot establish
An inspection is a professional observation of the agreed scope at a particular place and time. It reduces uncertainty but does not remove commercial, technical or regulatory responsibility.
Start a conversationAgreed scope
An inspector checks only the items, quantities, documents and tests included in the approved instruction. Requirements added after the visit, inaccessible areas and information unavailable at the factory cannot be treated as completed work.
Sampling
A sampled inspection examines selected units from an available lot. It does not inspect or guarantee every unit. The result applies to the sample and acceptance method stated in the report, subject to the condition and presentation of the lot.
Conditions at inspection time
The report records what was available and observable at the stated place and time. Production, packing, storage, documents or goods may change after the inspector leaves, and the supplier remains responsible for the order.
Shipment coverage
An inspection does not confirm that the inspected units are the exact units later loaded unless the agreed scope includes loading supervision, identification controls or sealing. Quantity and condition can change between inspection and dispatch.
Future product performance
Visual, dimensional and functional checks performed during one visit cannot establish lifespan, reliability under all conditions or performance after transport and use. Defined endurance or reliability testing requires a suitable method and authority.
Laboratory testing and certification
Factory inspection does not replace accredited laboratory testing, conformity assessment, certification or legal advice. Reports and markings can be reviewed as documents, but their validity and regulatory sufficiency require the appropriate qualified body.
Importer and manufacturer responsibilities
The buyer, importer, manufacturer and other economic operators retain their contractual and legal duties. A SilkVanta report supports a commercial decision but does not transfer responsibility for product safety, compliance, payment or market placement.
